15th October, 1938.

My dear Cowell,

Mr. A. Morse's name, as the zealous

Treasurer of the Hong Kong University, will be familiar

to you:

his work on Smith Committee in 1937 was

invaluable and his devotion of his spare time to the

University's affairs is of the greatest service to

us

This is to introduce him: he is, as you

know, Chief Accountant of the Hong Kong & Shanghai

Banking Corporation.

I feel sure that you will spare

him an hour, for he has a good deal to tell you

of the University's circumstances which is of the

greatest importance to us. You may take what he

says as being so.

If he brings with him Mr. J. R. Masson,

Director of Butterfield & Swire, he will be accompanied

by another Hong Kong resident who has the University's

H. R. Cowell, Esq., C.B., C.M.G.
